Capanna Regina Margherita
The ascent to Refuge "Capanna Regina Margherita" is a classic route that enables you to take in all the 4000 mt. summits of Mount Rosa. The capanna was built in the 1800’s and used as an observatory. Over the years it has been made bigger until it last reconstruction in 1980, now there are 80 beds. The Capanna Regina Margherita is located at 4559 mt. and is the highest alpine refuge in Europe. It is a place that all high altitude mountain and nature lovers should visit without having to encounter technical difficulty.
Day 1
Ascent by ski lift to the Indren Glacier. The route we follow is a simple path of rock and snow that leads us up to Refuge Mantova or Gnifetti.
Day 2
We depart at dawn via the glacier. We head across and over the Colle de Lys until we arrive at the Capanna Regina Margherita at 4559 mt.. Descent to the Indren cablecar. There is the possibility of staying overnight at the Capanna Regina Margherita.
